Not fully. The Outset Soft-Shell is highly water-resistant, built with a durable 3-layer fabric and DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating that sheds rain and wind with ease. It’s designed to keep you protected through the weather you actually face—from daily commutes to weekend travel—while staying soft, breathable, and comfortable all day long.

The fabric is rated 20K, meaning it can technically withstand up to 20,000 mm of water pressure (the same rating used in many performance shells). While it’s not built for extreme alpine conditions, it delivers all the protection most people will ever need without the stiffness or bulk of a traditional raincoat.

The Outset Soft-Shell is built to last. Its 3-layer construction uses an abrasion-resistant outer fabric with a bonded membrane and soft inner liner, giving it long-term durability for daily wear, travel, and changing weather.

To keep it performing its best, machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, hang dry, and avoid fabric softeners or bleach. Reapply a DWR spray over time to maintain its water repellency and overall performance.

We want you to love your gear. You can return or exchange any item within 30 days of purchase as long as it’s new, unused, and in original packaging with tags attached. Final-sale or clearance items are excluded.
